Yoga Classes

Yoga Workshops

Yoga workshops are a chance to work more deeply on your practice. They are usually longer than regular classes so you have time to explore postures in more detail and focus on specific teaching points.

Please note that our yoga workshops are generally unsuitable if you’re menstruating. If you have an injury or medical condition, please consult the office or the yoga workshop teacher before booking.

General/Intermediate Workshop Series with Jawahar Bangera

We are delighted to welcome Jawahar to teach an intensive series of workshops. Jawahar was originally introduced to yoga by his parents, who were pupils of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar. He began practicing yoga directly under Iyengar’s guidance in 1969 and has been teaching since 1980.

In 1987, 1990, 1992 and 1993, Jawahar accompanied Guruji to conventions in the US, UK, and Europe and first taught in the UK at Crystal Palace in 1999. Since that time, he has regularly been invited to conduct workshops for both teachers and students around the world. He has also conducted many Iyengar Yoga Conventions all over the world. Jawahar teaches classes in Mumbai, where he is a director of the Iyengar Institute in Lower Parel and is also a trustee of the Light on Yoga Research Trust (LOYRT).

We are delighted that Stephanie will be providing yoga therapy training at IYIMV during November 2017 and in each successive year until 2022.

Writing on her website Stephanie notes, ‘My first visit to the institute (RIMYI) in Pune was in Dec-Jan-Feb ‘91/’92. I stayed and I stayed’. During this time, she assisted in all classes including the medical and women’s classes. This experience forms the basis of her yoga therapy training.
