Alaric Newcombe has been practising Iyengar yoga since 1983 and teaching at Maida Vale since 1991. He holds the Senior Intermediate III Iyengar Yoga teaching certification. He has worked extensively on how to use the ropes to explore and improve asana practice. This workshop is a great opportunity for students with three or more years of regular Iyengar yoga practice techniques for using the ropes as a prop.
Places are limited so that students will have plenty of opportunity to use the ropes.

We are delighted to welcome Jawahar to teach an intensive series of workshops. Jawahar was originally introduced to yoga by his parents, who were pupils of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar. He began practicing yoga directly under Iyengar’s guidance in 1969 and has been teaching since 1980.
In 1987, 1990, 1992 and 1993, Jawahar accompanied Guruji to conventions in the US, UK, and Europe and first taught in the UK at Crystal Palace in 1999. Since that time, he has regularly been invited to conduct workshops for both teachers and students around the world. He has also conducted many Iyengar Yoga Conventions all over the world. Jawahar teaches classes in Mumbai, where he is a director of the Iyengar Institute in Lower Parel and is also a trustee of the Light on Yoga Research Trust (LOYRT).
Jawahar is conducting the IY(UK) Convention this year.

Stephanie Quirk has taught many six-part training workshops on therapeutics. She regularly shares her knowledge and expertise with Iyengar yoga teachers around the world. We are delighted that Stephanie will be providing yoga therapy training at IYIMV during November 2017 and in each successive year until 2022.
Writing on her website Stephanie notes, ‘My first visit to the institute (RIMYI) in Pune was in Dec-Jan-Feb ‘91/’92. When I returned in 1994 I decided that I wanted to immerse myself fully into the institute for a longer time. That longer time extended itself to more than 20 years . . . . . . . I stayed and I stayed’. During this time, she assisted in all classes including the medical and women’s classes. This experience forms the basis of her yoga therapy training.
